Kingfisher Lighting Summer Fun-day

The annual Kingfisher Summer BBQ was held on Saturday 1st July 2017 and went down a storm, welcoming colleagues and their families to come together while enjoying a day of fun activities in the sun.

Our Chairman, John Harding, offered these words on the event;

“It has long been a Kingfisher tradition to hold a family day and to invite all employees and their families to say thank you for their hard work over the past year.  The opportunity for all staff to meet up outside of the office and get to know each other’s families is, in the view of Barbara and myself, very important.

This year the event was held at Rufford Country Park and the sun shone down on us all afternoon. We were pleased that so many of our colleagues and their families could join us.

The thanks must go to my P.A, Joyce, for all the hard work that went into the organisation both before and on the day of the event.

It was a real privilege for me to be able to recognise two more 10 year long-service awards to John Vail and Mike Freestone, as well as 20 year awards for Lynne Thompson, Matt Harding, Paul Yates and Rod Wharmby.

The looks on the faces of the children (and a few of the adults) when the entertainer started the show was priceless, with all the children sitting spellbound throughout.  As for the balloon artist, what a wonderful job she did making fantastic shapes, animals and objects for all the children and some of the adults!

The band’s performance literally hit the right note with a great selection of easy listening songs, sing along tunes as well as background music affording everyone the ability to chat and enjoy the company and conversations around them.

The BBQ with all the trimmings was outstanding and went down very well with everyone. Also, the long queue for the ice-cream station was testimony to itself with a variety of flavours, sprinkles and sauces which proved far too good to resist!

Thank you to everyone who came and to those involved for bringing together this wonderful Kingfisher Tradition.”
