Marshall Milton Keynes Athletics Club

DSC00497

Formerly known as Wolverton Amateur Athletic Club, Marshall Milton Keynes Athletics Club was founded in 1885. During this time, the club has provided various sports facilities in Wolverton Park and its members compete in various leagues. The club's coaching program has nurtured talent like Craig Pickering, Greg Rutherford, and Chris Clarke, who have achieved success at European, Commonwealth, and Olympic levels.

The Project

The club’s existing system consisted of 30-year-old halogen flood lights which provided high maintenance and running costs. After funding from the National Hockey Foundation as well as money from the MMK Reserves, they decided it was time for an upgrade to an all-new LED system.

The Kingfisher Sport Team assessed the pre-existing system and decided a full upgrade to both lighting and masts would be the best solution. With different people attending site at various hours, it was important the lighting system was easy to understand so, we recommended utilising a controls system.

The Solution

We selected the AMNIS Series to illuminate the athletics club due to its high power and performance ensuring excellent light distribution throughout the site. Featuring advanced reflector technology, the series reduces energy costs, minimises waste light and promotes a comfortable distribution for all on site.

Placed around the athletics track, AMNIS Pro and Flood are positioned upon 20m fixed masts via bespoke bracketry systems. The Kingfisher High Mast Experts were responsible for the installation of the luminaires and ensured it perfectly met the exact specification required.

We also provided Kingfisher Controls for the site via a wireless switch system. With many athletes visiting site at varying times, it was important that the system was easy-to-use, so Kingfisher Controls was the perfect option.
