It’s International Women’s Day! This year, the theme is ‘Embrace Equity’ which aims to demonstrate the importance of equity in society and how it differs from equality.

What is the difference between equity and equality?

Equality can be applied to each individual or group and how they can receive the exact same resources and opportunities. Whereas equity focuses solely on differentiating individual needs and how exact resources can be supplied to ensure an equal outcome.

The concept of this year is to get a conversation going about why equal opportunities are no longer enough and can even be exclusionary. The main goal is for true inclusion for everyone.
