What do we consider to be ‘Harsh Environments’ and how damaging can this be?

When thinking about the level of protection needed on your fittings, it’s important to first think about the surrounding environments of your site. Harsh environments are usually places that experience high levels of wind, moisture, dust and/or salt spray etc.

For standard luminaires, these environments can easily and quickly corrode the outer body of the fittings and if effective seals are not in place, internal working can degrade, resulting in system failure.  

What is the Answer?

The simple solution is to ensure the luminaires used have a high level of protection. We recommend marine grade finishes, which is a protective coating that provides essential defence against corrosion and abrasion for luminaires, columns and bracketry. The specially designed formula does not look any different from a quality power coated paint finish but offers a much higher degree of safeguarding. Not only does this prolong the life of the fixtures, but ultimately saves on running and maintenance costs.
