The March edition of the Kingfisher Spotlight place a focus on the Management Accountant, Vicky Geary. With a wealth of experience in accounts, she is a huge asset to the Kingfisher Lighting Team always maintains a positive and helpful approach on a daily basis.

Almost 12 years

Have you ever had a different role within Kingfisher Lighting?

I began my time at Kingfisher as a Temporary Purchase Ledger Clerk, covering Maternity Leave, but since then I have been the Post Order Coordinator and Internal Auditor before settling in to my current role.

What does your job role entail?

I have many elements to my role and every day is different but some of the key elements involve preparing monthly management accounts, ensuring all transactions are posted to the correct nominal code and allocated to the correct departments.

I also report and budgets vs actual overheads with department managers, process all expenses for credit cards (which everyone loves me chasing), analyse job costings and process supplier invoices and payments.

What’s your favourite thing about being a part of the Kingfisher Family?

My favourite thing is that Kingfisher is one big family. We all respect each other, and I have gained some lifelong friends.

What’s your greatest professional achievement?

For me, it is my progression within the company. As someone who started with a temporary role, I have been afforded the opportunity to develop and advance my skills over time which has put me in a stronger position with my role.

Give us a fun fact about you?

I am currently training for a Strong Woman competition in my hometown in June 2024. At present, I can deadlift 120kg but I am determined to get to the 140kg competition very soon.

What's the most interesting thing you can see out of your office window?

At my desk, I am positioned with my back to the window however, I can see the warehouse in front. I enjoy watching them load the racking, it reminds me of a game of Jenga.
