The SolutionKingfisher Lighting developed a coordinated exterior lighting scheme designed to balance performance, flexibility and low glare illumination across a range of key areas including the running track, pedestrian routes and car parks. ITALO 1 luminaires were selected for their sleek aesthetic and versatile optical performance, providing an efficient yet powerful lighting solution suited to the varied demands of the site. These luminaires were installed on bespoke curved columns along the running track area of the UTC, creating effective illumination for both the plaza and athletics facilities while maintaining a clean and considered visual appearance. INGROUND recessed luminaires were used around the Olympic cauldron to highlight this important architectural feature, helping to reinforce the identity and heritage of the park after dark. To support the site’s varied usage, the Kingfisher control system was programmed to increase lighting output by 50% during events, allowing the scheme to adapt to changing operational requirements while maintaining efficient day-to-day performance.
