One of the latest projects to join our portfolio, Abbey View Community Athletics Track was headed by our expert Kingfisher Sport team. This retrofit project swapped outdated metal halide lamps for an innovative LED flood light alternative which resulted in a total energy saving of up to 54%.
About the Club
A well-established community sports club, Abbey View is dedicated to promoting athletics for all ages and abilities. Its strong history consists of training athletes for both regional and national competitions in addition to fostering a welcoming environment for local runners, sprinters, and field event athletes.
The Project
The club’s previous scheme left lighting levels falling short, hindering their chances of achieving the TrackMark Accreditation, limiting the use for competitions and events, and raising safety concerns.
The existing setup contained 32 metal halide lamps in which were costly to maintain and operate. We were allowed to produce a new LED lighting scheme that utilised the pre-existing infrastructure to enhance lighting levels and efficiency
The Solution
We supplied 24 x AMNIS Flood luminaire upon bespoke bracketry to ensure the most secure installation possible. This reflector-based flood boasted high efficiency due to the MIRO-Silver optics ensuring minimal light waste is produced.
We also wanted to use as much of the existing equipment as possible, so we integrated the luminaires into the club's current controls system to reduce costs wherever possible.
The upgrade achieved an average of over 200 lux across the track and infield, meeting EA Class II standards for club-level competition.
Key Benefits
- 54% Energy Savings – Significantly reduced running costs.
- Enhanced Lighting Quality – Meeting TrackMark requirements.
- Minimal Disruption – Installation scheduled around club activities.
Testimonial - "We’re really pleased with the new LED lighting. It’s made a big difference to visibility and safety on the track. The install was smooth, and the energy savings and reduction in light pollution are a real bonus."
