Supporting Men and Raising Awareness
International Men’s Day gives people all over the world the opportunity to come together to celebrate men and highlight the challenges they face. These include mental health, societal expectations and the impact of harmful stereotypes.
The day exists not only to celebrate men’s contributions, but to encourage open discussion about the issues that impact many men and boys every day.
Key Statistics About Men in the UK
Here are some important facts about the male population in the UK:
- 85% of rough sleepers in England are men.
- 1 in 3 domestic abuse victims are male.
- 75% of suicide deaths are men.
These statistics highlight just how important it is that we continue to bring awareness to men’s experiences and promote access to support where needed.
The Three Core Themes of International Men’s Day
- Making a positive difference to the wellbeing and lives of men and boys.
- Raising awareness and funds for charities that support men’s wellbeing.
- Promoting positive conversations about men, manhood and masculinity.
